NUWAY Wrestling Revolution

Three of our little guys were at URI today wrestling some stiff competition. Bradey and Chael each took 2nd place. Gavin wrestled up in age and missed the medal round but had 5 matches with some real wars. Great job boys!!! Strike Zone is proud of these little warriors!

Bay State Scramble
Springfield Technical Community College, Springfield, MA
Four of our wrestlers were up in Springfield, MA today and had a great day. Zach had an incredible day, winning all three matches for the Gold. Lukas continues to be a force with another Gold, winning all three matches. Calvin took silver, winning three matches before dropping a decision in the finals. Drake "The Snake" at 5 years old wrestled his 1st tournament today and bumped up with 7 year old's. Although he didn't win he did awesome. Great things to come from this kid. Great job boys!!!!

East Coast Clash Tournament

Great way to end the weekend with our little guys. Bradey had an awesome day in the toughest weight class, taking home Gold with three big wins. Great job kid! Gavin took home Silver and Chael Bronze in the same weight class. These two have had to battle each other on a regular basis and always scrap. Zach, because of his size, always has to wrestle up in age and weight, and although he missed the medal round, he wrestled awesome loosing one match in the closing seconds. Great job today boys!!!

Reality Fighting

Great night of grappling tonight. John Naples won his match in spectacular finish by Heel Hook. Kirkor Papasian and Jeremy Woolfolk ended in a draw in submission only matches but definitely out grappled their opponents. So proud of these guys. 2018 NAGA East Coast Grappling Championship
Providence Sports Complex, Providence, RI
It has been only eight months since Kirkor Papasian took over our grappling and Jiu Jitsu program. Strike Zone Jiu Jitsu smashed it and had an incredible day. There were Belts, Swords and Medals flowing through the Zone.
Strike Zone was the Overall Adult Team Champion, the No-Gi Team Winner and our Kids and Teens Team received an Honorable Mention.

Marshwood's New England Youth Wrestling Invitational Classic
Cross Insurance Arena, Portland, ME
Strike Zone spent the weekend in Portland, Maine for Marshwood's New England Championships. After all said and done, our kids came away with 4 second place finishes, 2 fourths, and 2 fifths. Joey, Cameron, Lukas, and Calvin all took home runner up trophies. Killian and Zaire both took home 4th place medals, and Niam and James took 5th. Jesse, Nicholas, Remo, and Lucas all had some exciting matches and wrestled their hearts out but missed the medal round.
This New England tournament is a tough tournament but it's our favorite tournament of the season. Everyone has a lot of fun. Thanks to Coach Greg, Jeremy, Bryan, and Kevin for running crazy from mat to mat. Thanks to Donna a/k/a "Mamma Strike Zone" for keeping us coaches up to date on who's on what mat and when. Thanks to all the parents who take the time and money to bring your kids to all these tournaments week after week. It's exhausting, but these kids will have memories for life.

Started out at NAGA in New Haven and results are in: Alex - 1st No-Gi and 2nd Gi; Calvin - 1st Gi and 2nd No-Gi; Cam - 1st Gi and 2nd No-Gi; Randy - 2nd No-Gi and 2nd Gi; Trent - 2nd No-Gi; Zach - 2nd No-Gi. Eli and David scrapped in some tough brackets but missed the medal round. Wicked proud of the whole crew.

These boys did great today up in Manchester, NH at the Ralph Miller Spartan Tournament. Gavin a/k/a "Big G" took home Gold, and Bradey and Chael both grabbed Silver. Great job from these little guys!!!

One of Strike Zone's little guys, Lukas, was out in Ohio this weekend wrestling in the Tournament of Champions. Proud to say that out of 36 kids in his bracket he wrestled his heart out and took 6th place. With so many Champions from different States this was an awesome day. Great job Lightning Boy!!!

Battle of the Armory

Great day in Springfield today with our team, Strike Zone Wrestling, taking home the Team Championship. Our little guys wrestled their butts off. Bradey, again with a Gold medal, is becoming a beast! Little brother Gavin also took home Gold and had an awesome day beating a wrestler he had never beat before. Drake had an awesome day with two pins and a Bronze medal. Zach also brought home the Bronze. Chael won some matches but missed the medal round and ended up in 4th place. Coaches and parents are all proud of these dedicated wrestlers!!!

Our heavy weight, Jeremy Woolfolk, stepped into a cage for a Muay Thai Fight. Our Big guy won the 1st round before stopping his opponent in the 2nd round. Great job Jeremy!!!

Strike Zone was honored to have Grizzly Gym's Mike Martelle here for a SAW (Submission Arts Wrestling) Seminar. Mike Came down from Kingston, Ontario to teach and to promote some of the students. Strike Zone would like to congratulate Kirkor Papasian for earning his SAW Black Belt. The following students were also promoted: Julian Papasian - Brown Belt; Brian Swope and Alex Wyzatecki - Purple Belt; William Kenowski, Eli Legossie and David O'Rourke - Blue Belt. Ohio Tournament of Champions

Strike Zone's little guy, Lukas, traveled to Schenectady, NY this weekend to wrestle in the Pop & Flo Mini-Men Nationals. He battled some tough competition and pulled out a 3rd place. Congrats Lightning Boy!!! Great Job!!!
